Word Image is a private boutique publishing outfit with a 2-person husband-and-wife team, Hoe Fang and Wai Han. The company works on legacy projects left over from Hoe Fang's time as a publisher with Ethos Books, which is now run by an indefatigable and insightful publisher, Ng Kah Gay.
Dakota Books, Wiplash and Sepranza Books are imprints of Word Image. The Dakota Books imprint focuses on literary titles, Wiplash on graphic novels, while Sepranza Books publishes children's titles.
Our Story
Hoe Fang and Wai Han founded Ethos Books, an imprint of Pagesetters Services, in 1997. In 2018, Hoe Fang went into semi-retirement and happily and confidently handed the reins to Ng Kah Gay and a team that had successfully transitioned into the modern era of new literary tastes and issues, continuing the vision of creating fresh, different, and enduring books that would reflect the ethos of our times.
Word Image Pte Ltd, then a dormant Singapore company, was acquired by Hoe Fang who wanted to complete some of the longer-term legacy projects from his earlier days, and to share his publishing experiences with others.
